Q: Can I swap out my Ranger 11B – 45acp mono-core for a Ranger 11B -9mm Mono-core? (or vice versa)?

A: NO – your suppressor is serialized and registered with the ATF as a specific caliber and due to ATF regulations – we are unable to change or swap out the monocore. However, we do offer the versatility of using your 45 suppressor on a 9mm host weapon by swapping out the piston (or Nielsen Device). The Ranger 11B chambered in 45acp is rated UP TO 45acp. Ranger 11B chambered in 9mm is rated UP TO 9mm. Both Ranger calibers are able to handle 300 blackout subsonic ammo with the proper fixed barrel piston/Nielsen device.

Q: Would the Ranger 9mm be suitable for use on .300 blackout subsonic ammo? I have a pistol AR platform in .300blk and currently have a heavy suppressor on it. The specs on the ranger show it’s a third of the weight and user serviceable.

A: Both Ranger calibers are able to handle 300 blackout subsonic ammo but that platform will require the proper fixed barrel piston/Nielsen device.  Link:   www.ptptactical.com/product/ranger-piston/

Q: I just purchased a Ranger 11B in .45. If I intend on shooting a 9mm through the suppressor will I need another piston or an adapter?

A: You will need to purchase the appropriate piston (Nielsen Device) to be able to mount your suppressor on alternate calibers because they have different thread pitches on the barrels.  Link:   www.ptptactical.com/product/ranger-piston/

Q: What is a “Fixed Barrel Piston” and why/when do I need one?

A: Fixed barrel pistons are used on platforms that do not utilize the traditional ‘browning slide’ that many pistol platforms feature. Examples of host weapons that would need a fixed barrel piston are: Scorpion Evo 3, Beretta M9A, AR-15’s (chambered in compatible calibers ONLY!)  Link:   www.ptptactical.com/product/ranger-piston/

Q: Does the Ranger 11B come in two calibers?

A: You are able to purchase the Ranger 11B in either 45acp (rated UP TO 45acp) OR 9mm (rated UP TO 9mm). Both are also rated for 300 black out subsonic rounds. Link:   www.ptptactical.com/ranger/

Q: I have a Ranger 11B suppressor that I want to mount on a SIG MPX 9mm with a tapered barrel. What do I need?

A: Based on the information provided: you would need a ½” taper washer and a ½-28 fixed barrel piston for your Ranger 11B – both are sold on our website! (Refer to the manufacturer to confirm barrel size and/or thread pitch).
Links:
www.ptptactical.com/product/ranger-piston/
www.ptptactical.com/product/taper-washer-fits-sig-mpx-sig-mcx-tapered-barrels/

Q: I own 2 Ranger 11B cans one in 9mm and the other in 45. I am wondering if you offer a HK 3 lug adapter or does any on the market fit your suppressor?

A: We do not currently offer a 3 lug adapter for our Ranger 11B pistol suppressors and are unaware of any aftermarket version that would be suitable.

Q: Can you advise the best process/products for cleaning the Ranger 11B?

A: Cleaning solutions for the suppressors generally come down to personal preference. Most gun cleaning solutions will work just fine on your suppressor. However, we sometimes use standard CLP and/or Break Free® Powder Blast Gun Cleaner on the anodized parts an ultra-sonic cleaning machine* on the non-anodized parts.  We suggest soaking the suppressor, disassembling and use a bit of elbow grease to remove any build up on the mono-core and internal pieces, and then reassembling.  You may also use a very SMALL amount of white lithium grease on the threads- but not too much! You don’t want the threads to have a greasy build up.  Some household cleaners are safe to use as well – Dawn® dish liquid and WD-40 are a great household cleaners.

*DO NOT use the standard ultra-sonic cleaning machine or solution on any anodized parts – as it will BLEACH the anodizing.
*DO NOT use ‘simple green’ or other high PH solutions on any anodized parts as it will damage your finish.

Q: I’m really looking at your 11B 9mm. Is it rated for fully automatic?

A: The Ranger 11B suppressors are NOT full auto rated. The Ranger 11B mono-core is made of high quality aluminum to offer a light weight suppressor for your pistol platforms. That being said – the aluminum monocore cannot take the ‘heat’ that a full auto will emit.

Q: Could you please tell me if the 131.6 dB that you have listed for your Ranger 45 Suppressor was when the suppressor was wet or dry?

A: Most of our published/advertised dB readings are DRY readings unless otherwise stated – we do very little testing/shooting WET (mainly because the suppressors get ‘dirtier’ faster – and will require cleaning more often).  However, all of our suppressors can be shot WET and the report of your weapon will be dramatically decreased for the first 10 rounds or so (the heat burns the moisture off fairly quickly and you will likely have to reapply for every magazine). We elected to stick with DRY readings as a base– as this is a more accurate representation of what the dB will be during every day usage.

Q: Can jacketed hollow points or FMJ ammo be safely used in your Ranger suppressors?

A: Hollow points and full metal jacket ammo are designed to expand once they have hit the target – but all too often they expand as soon as they leave the barrel. If this occurs while using a suppressor it COULD cause damage that would not be covered by the warranty. We highly suggest using ammo designed for suppressors.  You may end up spending a buck or two more on the box of ammo but in the end you are treating your investment wisely. Steer clear of FMJ, reloads, and the ‘inexpensive’ white box brand when shooting suppressed.

Q: Can I use supersonic ammo through my Ranger suppressor?

A: You could – but suppressors are not as effective on suppressing supersonic ammo as they are subsonic ammo. We suggest using subsonic ammo that is appropriate for suppressor use. You may end up spending a buck or two more on the box of ammo but in the end you are treating your investment wisely. Steer clear of FMJ, reloads, and the ‘inexpensive’ white box brand when shooting suppressed.

Q: Are Ranger suppressors user-serviceable?

A: Yes! All Ranger suppressors include the take-down tools necessary in disassembling/reassembling your suppressor as well as tightening/loosening off the host barrel.

Q: Do you offer a three lug adapter for the Ranger 11B?

A: No we do not. We DO offer a variety of pistons (Nielsen Device) available in multiple thread pitches – allowing you to mount on various host weapons. You can view/purchase them on our website (as well as other Ranger 11B suppressor accessories at:  https://ptptactical.com/product-category/suppressor-accessories/pistol/

Scout 19D & Scout 19DM FAQs

Purchase Scout Accessories:   www.ptptactical.com/product-category/suppressor-accessories/rim-fire/

Q: I own a Scout 19D and would like to know what cleaning method you recommend.

A: We generally use standard CLP and/or Break Free® Powder Blast Gun Cleaner on the anodized parts and an ultra-sonic cleaning machine*on the non-anodized parts (baffles/ blast chamber).  We’ve also had a few dealers that use Cleanzoil, however, at the end of the day – it is really up to the owners/users preference as most gun cleaning products are safe to use on suppressors. We suggest soaking the suppressor to loosen any build up, disassembling and use a bit of elbow grease to remove any build up on the baffles and internal pieces, and then reassembling.  You may also use a very SMALL amount of white lithium grease on the threads- but not too much! You don’t want the threads to have a greasy build up.  Some household cleaners are safe to use as well – If you have an excessive amount of buildup on your baffles WD-40 is a great household de-greaser for that.

*DO NOT use the standard ultra-sonic cleaning machine or solution on any anodized parts – as it will BLEACH the anodizing.
*DO NOT use ‘simple green’ or other high PH solutions on any anodized parts as it will damage your finish.

Q: Can you clean the Scout 19D baffles in a wet tumbler with stainless steel pins? Does doing so void any kind of warranty?

A: Please do NOT tumble your baffles – We suggest using an ultra-sonic cleaning machine if available and if not – soak them in a cleaning solution and clean them the old fashioned way (with a little elbow grease). Although the baffles are sturdy – they do have thin walls and tumbling may cause them to become misshaped, etc. – this would not be covered by the warranty.

Q: Can the Scout 19D handle 22tcm?

A: The Scout 19D and Scout 19DM are NOT rated for the 22 tcm center fire round. The Scout model suppressors are rated for rim-fire only.

Q: Is the Scout 19D/19DM full-auto rated?

A: Yes – they are! The Scout models will handle standard .22 short, .22lr, .22 magnum, .17HMR and RIMFIRE full auto.
Link:   www.youtube.com/watch?v=tz8as5lT4Bk

Q: Are the Scout suppressors rated for 5.7X28?

A: The Scout 19D and 19DM models are both rated for 5.7X28 but are NOT RATED for FULL-AUTO 5.7X28.

Q: Are the Scout suppressors rated for 17 WSM?

A: We have not rated the Scout 19D / 19DM for this round of ammo. We find the round to be somewhat unstable once it leaves the barrel (and you certainly don’t want your ammo bouncing around inside of your suppressor).

Q: Are Scout suppressors user-serviceable?

A: Yes! All Scout suppressors also include the take-down tool necessary to take in dissembling your suppressor.

Purchase Chief Accessories:   www.ptptactical.com/product-category/suppressor-accessories/rifle/

Q: My rifle has a tapered barrel – what is the best way to mount a suppressor?

A: Taper barrels will require a taper washer that slides over the barrel to provide a solid shoulder for the suppressor to square off too. Otherwise you may find movement in the suppressor/ suppressor mount, and other accessories. If you are unable to locate a taper washer – you may also consider purchasing a different barrel that is more appropriate for mounting suppressors/accessories.

Q: Do you offer taper washers?

A: We currently offer a SIG MCX/MPX taper washer.
Link:   www.ptptactical.com/product/taper-washer-fits-sig-mpx-sig-mcx-tapered-barrels/

Q: Is there a minimum barrel length for the Chief suppressors?

A: The Chief series suppressors are built to last – very rugged and durable.  Because of this design – we do not have a minimum barrel length listed.  The majority of barrels are going to be 7” up on any given rifle caliber (very few are shorter) – so à 7inches!   Although most 7.62X39 will be longer than that (ballistics are usually better on longer barrels).

Q: I have just mounted a Master Chief on my 308. After tightening onto the quick mount it still seems to move forward and back about 1/16 inch. Is this supposed to happen?

A: There should be no movement in your Chief suppressor if it is mounted properly. Ensure your muzzle brakes (with shims) and /or flash hiders are mounted correctly and Loctite into place. Review your installation card (included with your suppressor) and installation videos on our website to ensure you are mounting the Chief suppressors correctly prior to use.

Q: I have an AK-47 – do you have a suppressor for that?

A: As a matter of fact – we do! Both Master Chief and Senior Chief Suppressors are able to handle the AK-47.

Q: What’s the significance of the portable mixer on the end of the Chief boxes?

A: Just a friendly roast of a competitor can.

Q: Do you have suppressor covers for the Master/Senior Chief?

A: You can purchase a replacement micro-fiber sleeve on our website – but we do not currently offer a ‘suppressor cover’ for when the suppressor is in use and warm to the touch. There are MANY companies that make covers to fit this diameter/length suppressor.

Q: I have a stock barrel with a pin/welded muzzle brake – will your suppressor work on that?

A: Because of our patented quick detach design our Chief suppressors will only fit our Chief Muzzle Brakes/Flash Hiders.
Link:   www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcCr88zUSCU

Q: If the diameter of the Chief suppressor is 1.5” how is it going to fit under a 1.5” rail?

A: MAGIC? I speculate that companies label the hand rail as 1.5” because they can accommodate 1.5” accessories.

Q: Are the Master/ Senior Chief suppressors user-serviceable?

A: No – they are fully circumference welded and do not allow the ability for the user to take apart like our smaller caliber rim-fire and pistol suppressors.

Compensators FAQs

Compensators FAQs

Q: Do you sell a tool or spring cap for the 1911 compensators?

A: NO – Most 1911’s include both already.

Q: I can’t get my spring cap to fit through the compensator – what am I doing wrong?

A: You’ll need to install the spring/spring cap PRIOR to installing the compensator. We suggest having a gunsmith install however, we do offer a helpful instructional video on compensator installation on our YouTube channel.
Link:   www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAu6lg_k9_U&t=5s

Q: Can your 1911 Compensators fit 9mm 1911’s?

A: Every compensator we machine is the same size with the same specs detailed in this listing (ID Is .583″ +-.0005 fit any 1911 clone pistol that has a barrel OD between .577″-581″), but we can’t say the same for every gun or every gun barrel. Every one of our compensators should fit on 1911 clones with barrel bushing the same specs as our part; however, they will not fit on a bull barrel and are not threaded. They are rated up to and including 45acp and can fit on .38 and 9mm barrels with matching specs.

Q: How much do the compensators weight?

A: Compensators weigh approximately 2.6 oz and assist with recoil – they also add about 1” to your barrel length.

Q: Do you offer custom engraving?

A: Rarely. But we have made exceptions in the past for customers ordering multiple units (depending on the product purchased). Programming a new design is not a quick or easy process, however, if you have a serious inquiry we can quote your request – send your design and quantity request to Sales@ptptactical.com.

Q: Will your 1911 compensator for a commander size 1911 fit my Rock Island Armory compact 1911? It doesn’t have the traditional front bushing and want to know before I make the purchase.

A: Our compensators are essentially bushing replacements – they are not compatible with bull barrels and are not threaded.

Q: Do you carry a compensator that will fit a Colt Officers ACP?

A: We do not offer an officer model compensator. We DO offer a choice of a full-sized Government or Compact Commander 1911 compensator/ bushing replacements– please check and compare your specs prior to purchase and installation!

Q: Why is the flag reversed on one side on the engraved Flag Compensators:

A: We appreciate and share your concern for the respectful display of our American flag. There are many regulations on how the flag shall be displayed in specific situations and we have elected to conform with Army Regulation in respect to how the flag displays on the left and right side of the compensator – in the same way it is displayed on the uniform of the U.S. Armed Forces. We do this ‘reversed side flag’ engraving as a show of patriotism and with the utmost respect to our U.S. military forces.

Army Regulation 670-1, “Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia,” addresses explicitly the proper and lawful placement of the U.S. flag patch on the Army uniform.

The regulation states that when authorized for application to the proper uniform the American flag patch is to be worn, right or left shoulder, so that “the star field faces forward, or to the flag’s own right. When worn in this manner, the flag is facing to the observer’s right, and gives the effect of the flag flying in the breeze as the wearer moves forward. The appropriate replica for the right shoulder sleeve is identified as the ‘reverse side flag’.”

That being said – if you prefer the display with the union stars on the left side only – we will happily accommodate! Just send us a note when placing the order or email us and we can specially engrave one for you.
